This project aims to preserve and digitize rare Sanskrit manuscripts across Srinagar, Jammu, Delhi, Lucknow, and Varanasi. Unique collections—ranging from palm-leaf and birch-bark texts to rare prints from Naval Kishore Press—are being digitized using high-resolution scanners and meticulous archiving.
Despite challenges like fragile materials, faded scripts, and bureaucratic delays, thousands of pages have been successfully digitized, enhancing global access via platforms like the Internet Archive.
The initiative not only safeguards India’s literary heritage but also provides interns hands-on experience in preservation and digital archiving. More funding is needed to expand this vital work.
