1. About the Campaign
Gita Natyam, founded by Bharatanatyam artiste Pavithra Srinivasan, brings together two pillars of Bharatiya civilisation—the Bhagavad Gita and Bharatanatyam. The campaign seeks to communicate the teachings of all 18 chapters of the Bhagavad Gita through thematic performances, workshops, and educational films.
2. The Problem and the Solution
The profound teachings of Hindu scriptures are often perceived as difficult or inaccessible, especially by younger audiences. At the same time, classical arts such as Bharatanatyam require sustained patronage to remain relevant as mediums of education, spiritual reflection, and cultural transmission.
Gita Natyam addresses this challenge by presenting scriptural wisdom through movement, mime, melody, mudras, rhythm, narration, and storytelling.
Funding will support:
- Research and interpretation of the Bhagavad Gita
- Choreography based on its individual chapters
- Original music composition and studio recording
- Costumes, rehearsals, musicians, and technical teams
- Live performances and interactive workshops
- Production of value-based educational films
- Digital documentation and global dissemination
- Outreach to schools, universities, Gurukulams, and cultural institutions
