About the Campaign
Through its #ReclaimTemples initiative, Ugra Narasimha Charitable Trust documents neglected and destroyed temples, supports their restoration and works to revive traditional worship and community practices. The effort treats temples not merely as buildings, but as living institutions that connect communities with their spiritual, cultural and civilizational heritage.
The Problem & The Solution
Across Kerala, hundreds of ancient temples and sacred sites have suffered neglect, destruction or loss of traditional practices. The challenge is not limited to rebuilding structures—it requires identifying sites, documenting their history, mobilising communities, coordinating restoration and ensuring that worship and traditions return.
The campaign therefore supports the operational costs of this institutional work, rather than treating funding simply as construction expenditure. This enables a sustained organisation to identify, document and help restore temples over the long term.
Expected Impact & Beneficiaries
- 200+ temples documented through the #ReclaimTemples initiative.
- 7 temples fully restored, with 10 more under restoration.
- 160 destroyed ancient structures documented under Project Malabar.
- Support field research, documentation, coordination and restoration activities.
- Help revive traditional worship, festivals and community participation around restored temples.

Kerala, with documented work across Malappuram, Palakkad, Wayanad and other districts.
The objective is institution building: creating the capacity to reclaim and revive many more temples over time, rather than funding isolated construction projects.
